SAMPLE LIST OF THEMATIC EXCURSIONS
Our students explore the nooks and crannies of British history and landscape that the nornal tourist can't get to see!  Our excursions  are unique and available no where else and designed to give you invaluable insights into European history, traditions, folklore, and culture.

All excursions come complete with introductory seminar, dedicated and expert qualifed Teacher-Guide and private transport. Here is a short selection of the types of excursions we offer you. 

Avebury Prehistoric Temple: West Kennet Long Barrow; Silbury Hill; The Avenue; The Sanctuary; The Ridgeway; Aveburyhenge stone circle; The Marlborough Down. A great region of prehistoric civilisation from circa 4,000bc.

The Welsh Border: The proud Celtic princedom. also has its own language, flag, and Parliament. Come and see: Offas Dyke; Chepstow Castle; Tintern Abbey; Wye Forest River & Valley. Also step up into the Welsh hills. The poet Wordsworth wrote some of his most famous works when hiking in this area.

The Coast & Hardy Country: The 19th.century novelist Thomas Hardy captured forever "Wessex" (some of hs novels as films are: 'Tess'; 'Far From thr Maddng Crowd') See: Salisbury Plain; Stonehenge; Corfe Castle; Lulworth Cove, Wareham medieval town; Isle of Purbeck; army firing ranges and the drmataic English coast.

Discoverers, Pirates, SteamshipsThe ancient and medieval port and city of Bristol: Atlantic gateway. John and Sebastian Cabot set sail from here in 1497 to discover mainland Canada/N.America for King Henry VII. From here later on the slave ships set forth to take their victim from Africa to the American colonies. See the pb where Long John Silver and Capt.Morgan and other pirates lodged! And where Daniel Defoe met the real-life Robinson Cruisoe! See Isambard Kingdom Brunels great Victorian masterpieces incl the world's first suspension bridge and ocean going cruise liner

Wayland Smithy: This prehistoric chambered tomb was built c.3,000bc. When the Saxons came here c.600 ad, they regarded it as one of the secret entrances to the workshop of Wayland, wonder smith of the Gods. Also see: Ridgeway (prehistoric motorway!), The White Horse, The Great Barn, Uffington Castle, King Alfreds Blowing Stone, Chiltern Hills and quaint Oxfordshire villages.

the Romans:    Bath was originally a Celtic town taken over by the    Romans- Aqua Sulis, and then by the Sacons. It has hot spring which since Roman times have been used for  healing bathing and drinking. The Roman bath-pool and houses remain. Later the town became a Europan spa-centre, rebuilt to the Classical style by great architects. Also see: the Battle of Dyrham: Saxons and Romano-British.

The Arthurian Trail: In Somerset in the English 'West Country' is the town of Glastonbury- reputed to be Avalon of Arthurian myth. Visit the famour Tor; the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey;  and Wells Cathedral; New Age shopping; the Somerset Levels; the Monmouth rebellion.

New Forest & Beaulieu: The international Motor Museum; Abbey Ruins; Stately Home; Rufus Stone (midre of King William II); the mystic Forest and heath; wild ponies.

Forest of Dean: Secret England: Chepstow Castle; the Bristol Channel; Severn Bridge; Wye Valley; forest trails & lakes; and the lore of the Wildwood.

S. Cotswold Hills Vistas: Including Malmesbury Abbey (King Athelstan & Vikings), Roman Cirencester, traditional market villages; rolling farmland. Quaint pubs.

Stonehenge: More than the usual trip- this one includes other prehistoric monuments such as Woodhenge, Durrington Walls and the Ridgeway; the deserted castle and cathedral of Old Sarum; the medieval city and cathedral of Salisbury.

Wales: Caerleon- Roman-Arthurian stronghold; Raglan castle;  Tintern Abbey and Wye valley (here Wordsworth and Shelley hiked and Wordsworth composed many of his memorable poems to Nature); Offa's Dyke; the Welsh mountains; Welsh border; Welsh hills and mountians.
