Untold knowledge and widsom flourishes on the Internet which would have never seen the light of day in earlier years- but just as easily it can be lost. This project aims to collate for humanity documents relevant to the Archives for posterity.

The Internet in terms of knowledge and the intercourse of the intellect is a joy to behold. Many people now commend their researches, discoveries, knowledge and wisdom to the public domain who previously would not have been able to so. Yet, for all this much can still be lost: many pages each day simply vanish from the Net: for technical, respource or time or personal reasons by the authors. A loss to humankind. We hope you will support and contribute to this project of research and collection!

TE.L.A..N. stands for The European Electronic Library & Archive Network is a project which grew from four elements: i) the original plan in 1993 for TEL to be a world network of authors/publishers/subjects/reference matrix a P.C. concept schematised by SBC with Richard Baker. ii) development of the initiative for internet collecting as stated by Stephen B. Cox in a recent issue of the Journal (Technological TEL Collecting) with iii) the long term plan to initiate audio projects for Arktion and iii) the TEL associated project called Elan proposed by former Bro.David Joly of Belgium (but now abandoned in that regard) to build a TEL linked societal resource for pagans.

The Goal

The goal behind the TELAN project is to build an electronic archive, including books, pictures and articles downloaded from the World Wide Web. All these articles and books will be centralised initially by members agreeing to act as collecting points and thence for transmission to ghq. The Archive will be available to all members for a small donation via e-mail (or printed hardcopy by snail mail at 12p per page as with TEL) and to the public as a paid service. Access will be made via the Internet or (as a subscriber) or by CD ROM purchases.

All income (less the costs of the project and a fair payment to the member organisers who will work with Bro.Stephen to run the project) generated by the project from both members and from the public will be donated to one of the most important fighting funds of Arktion, indeed a singularly essential project for Pagan Europe itself: to either buy or obtain a long lease on a farmhouse (and small holding of land for agricultural self-sufficiency) in a remote rural landscape which will become the dream manifest in the material world we all desire: a pan-European heritage centre/school and pagan community which will be sanctuary which you can all use for your holidays and as a retreat, and also have your children educated.

This requires steady planning and some co-ordination between members who want to practically achieve something and not just read about it. But it is something you can do to help practically from your own home. Your help is now urgently requested to develop this project, by the following means:

What You Can Do

Why not pledge yourself top one of the following?

  1. Donations to help purchase i) zip drive; ii) computer audio items and additional computer software and hardware at ghq.
  2. Members to become "Venturers" to regularly surf the net and collect relevant items.
  3. Members with musical skills to start developing Order audio projects.
  4. Members with computer or net skills to visit &improve ghq pc to improve its structures, skills, configurations etc.
  5. Members with similar skills to help set up better communications between our computers worldwide.
  6. A member to become an Adviser on software, free downloads etc (e.g. people with older PCs have a problem reading Word 97 attachments but there is a way around this. There are lots of things available at little or no cost. We need a PC boffin to be an Info.Centre!)
  7. Someone to design and launch some websites at GHQ so that the other sites can be more subjects focussed than at present.
  8. Someone to make/record our CD's.

Searching For Web Info

Subjects collected in TEELAAN are all those relevant to TEL e.g.: Classical/Ancient texts/books, Occultism, Mythology, History, Ethnography, Philosophy, Archaeology, Magick; Folklore, Ancient Religion, Psychology, to name but a few

(Material can be donated via e-mail, 3.5" diskettes, ZIP disks or CD-R(W). All Arktion members having access to the Internet (at home, work or school) are encouraged to donate a couple of articles, pictures or one book a month. Copyright information (authors, web URL, etc.) must be included!

We also encourage members with or having access to a scanner to make e-texts from articles and books. Flatbed scanners are available in many schools, libraries, and workplaces, and can be bought very cheaply these days from direct-mail manufacturers such as DEL, Tiny, Time etc. Many scanners come with optical character recognition (OCR) software (such as Omnipage), which is quite accurate once you've adjusted your settings properly. Members can also type the work in if they prefer, or if a good scanner is not available.

The first stage is donations for a ZIP-drive at GHQ to use 100MB capacity discs (as opposed to 1,5 MB). An external ZIP-drive costs about £145. If 15 members donated £10: solved! We know it can be done: only this month: Bro.Halvard (Norway) & Sis.Amanda (England) between them donated £135 (out of the £212 needed) solving the problem of repairs- a magnificent response. Also Jan ( Belgium) & Bro.Stian (Norway) + David (Belgium) donated quite a number of items from the Internet. Bro.Darren(Australia) launched & maintained for a long time the main Order website. Others are imminent- we need more!!!

Remember that your donations are not money that vanishes from you pocket never to be seen again: it is a building block of which you can truly proud to help achieve the things you want to see. As Bro.Halvard of Norway commented re. his frequent summer holiday House-Carlships to ghq: "It's good to be back- this is my second home; a sanctuary where I can renew myself"! This is how it should be.

The greater and the quicker that the Centre grows by your efforts, then the quicker we shall get our farmhouse by your schemes and promotions (for example: i) Pledging an annual or a monthly donation direct to our bank account; ii) promoting as widely as possible to the public or even iii) putting together a group of your own to bring over for a holiday: which would almost immediately finance our farmhouse) the more you will have a physical resource with all the things you want to be able to enjoy whenever you want. Your sanctuary like your own time-share magickal mansion in a numinous landscape! So let us all prove for once and for all that were indeed worthy of being European and that we are serious about building the future! W
